Welcome

A treatment shaped around you

Deep tissue work is blended with Swedish and Indian head massage techniques so every session is shaped to what your body is actually asking for that day. The pressure can range from gentle and warming through to deep and targeted — we'll talk it through before we start, and you can adjust at any point.

What deep tissue is really for

Deep tissue helps to break up scar tissue and ease the muscle adhesions — the 'knots' we all feel in our shoulders, neck and lower back. It calms the whole system down while it works on muscular tension, so relieving that stress in the body tends to quiet the mind at the same time. Several sessions usually give the best results for long-standing tightness.

What to expect on the couch

Low light, warm room, soothing music. We'll start with a short chat about how you're feeling and where you'd like the focus. After the treatment there's time to come back into the room slowly with a glass of water — most people feel a little floaty for the rest of the day.

Benefits

Why deep tissue may help

Deep tissue massage works the layers beneath the surface — easing what's been held there for weeks, months, sometimes years.

Releases Stubborn Knots

Slow, focused pressure on adhesions and tight bands of muscle helps the tissue soften and lengthen.

Improves Circulation

Warm, deliberate strokes encourage fresh blood flow into tight areas — supporting recovery and ease of movement.

Eases Aches & Pain

A regular treatment can take the edge off recurring shoulder, neck and low-back discomfort.

Better Sleep

Many clients report deeper, easier sleep on the nights following a treatment.

Calms a Busy Mind

Releasing physical tension settles the nervous system — the mental noise tends to quieten with it.

Restores Movement

As muscles let go, range of motion and posture often improve over a course of treatments.

Adaptations

Adapted to your body, every session

Deep tissue doesn't have to mean painful. Pressure, pace and focus are chosen with you — and changed during the session if something needs to soften or go deeper.

  • Gentle, medium or deep pressure
  • Focused on the areas that need it most
  • Blended with Swedish strokes to warm the muscle first
  • Indian head massage included if welcome
  • Heated towels for tight shoulders or low back
  • Time to chat through aches before we start
  • Clear check-ins on pressure throughout
  • Aftercare advice to make the benefit last

Your comfort

What to expect on the couch

Treatments are calm, unhurried and entirely confidential. Nothing happens without your say-so.

  • Warm, quiet treatment room in Buxton
  • Soft lighting and gentle music
  • Short consultation before we begin
  • You undress only to your comfort — always discreetly covered
  • Pressure is led by you and checked throughout
  • Water and a slow finish at the end

Who it's for

Who deep tissue suits

It's a particularly good fit for people whose bodies are holding the day-to-day load — desks, driving, lifting, parenting, training.

  • Desk workers with shoulder and neck tightness
  • Drivers and tradespeople with low-back ache
  • Runners, walkers and cyclists
  • Parents and carers carrying physical strain
  • People recovering from postural overload
  • Anyone with stubborn, long-standing knots

An important note

Massage is a complementary therapy and not a replacement for medical care, diagnosis or treatment. If you have a recent injury, are pregnant, or are managing a medical condition, please get in touch before booking so we can talk it through safely.
